Two months in and it still feels surreal to say we

Two months in and it still feels surreal to say we have a daughter! Here's a look back at Avery's month:

✨ Avery started serving up some real smiles a couple weeks ago, and we can't get enough of her open-mouth, gummy grin she shows off every time someone talks to her.
✨ She's finding her voice by emitting sweet coos, no doubt practicing for talking back to her brother in a few years.
✨ A true Colorado girl, Avery took her first trip to the mountains, where she enjoyed shopping in downtown Breckenridge, a boat ride around Lake Dillon, and the Vail farmers' market.
✨ Avery has already gotten a taste of this family's football fandom by attending her first Broncos training camp.
✨ Some current pastimes include watching Gilmore Girls with Mom (fun fact: Rory was on my short list of name ideas for Avery), hanging out in her bouncer chair, and laying on her back to stare at ceiling fans. She's easy to please, haha!

My big boy 💙 He absolutely hates pictures, unless you ask him to "show me your teeth." Then he'll give a nice big smile for the camera. 😂

Avery got to meet her Grandpa Larry this past week

Avery got to meet her Grandpa Larry this past weekend! Thanks for the visit, Dad and Lauri! We miss you already!

As Sam heads back to work today, I'm feeling so gr

As Sam heads back to work today, I'm feeling so grateful for the past six weeks we've had to bond as a family of four (though of course they went too fast)! This may be the end of his paternity leave but, like I told Sam last night, it's just the beginning of all the adventures we'll have with Liam and Avery. 🥰

My babies 🥰 Liam has been an amazing big brothe

My babies 🥰 Liam has been an amazing big brother from the start! He greets Avery every morning with a high-pitched "Hi, sissy!" and comforts her when she's crying by saying, "It's OK, sissy." He brings her pacifiers, tries to share his toys, and likes to help me burp her. I can't wait to watch their bond get stronger as they grow up together. ❤️ Also, it's nearly impossible to get a picture where both of them are smiling and looking at the camera. 🤣

We made it through the first month with two kids!

We made it through the first month with two kids! This transition from 1-2 has been a million times easier for me than 0-1. Avery has so seamlessly slipped into our family, we can't remember what life was like without her! This month:

✨ Avery is growing like a weed! She's already up 2 pounds from her birth weight. 💪🏻
✨ She loves snuggling for naps (no complaints here!), bathtime, and her "purple monkey in a bubblegum tree" piano playmat. Parents, IYKYK. 🤣
✨ Avery gained the nickname AV-ery early on. The Colorado Avalanche won their first Stanley Cup Finals game against the Tampa Bay Lightning the night she was born. (Yes, Sam jokingly asked that I be done pushing by the time the game started at 6 p.m. Avery was born at 5:17.) They then went on to win the whole series a couple weeks later! She's a lucky charm. 🍀
✨ She is quickly learning what it's like to have a big brother! Liam is obsessed with his "sissy" and constantly wants to hold her hand, give her kisses, and put in her pacifier. 💕
✨ We've already attempted a couple of outings as a family, including trips to two zoos, the aquarium, and a handful of breweries. 🍻

We love you, Avery Nicole!

P.S. Avery is a girl name Sam and I have loved for years, and Nicole is in honor of my sister Reade, who shares the middle name!
